   Jump Rope for Heart

Dear Rosendale Students and Parents:

We will soon be kicking off National Physical Education and Sports Week the week of May 9th!  We will be exercising with “cardiovascular” activities to make our heart stronger!  Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death in the United States.  Children’s life spans are predicted to be less than their parents because of inactivity and obesity-related illnesses.  Cardiovascular disease ranks as the #3 cause of death for children.  Yes, these are disappointing facts.

What are we going to do about our concern for heart disease in young children?  We are going to exercise and raise money to help lower heart disease.

We will be having our annual Jump Rope For Heart Fundraiser after school from 2:10-3:15 on the following 2 days:

Thursday, May 12th-Kdg, 1st & 2nd grade          Friday, May 13th- 3rd, 4th & 5th grade

This is our 12th year participating and the American Heart Association’s 37th year!!  Over the years we have collected more than $21,000 at Rosendale!!  Let’s make it the BEST YEAR YET!!  WE CAN DO IT!  We can exercise at Rosendale and raise money to help fight heart disease!  Remember, everyone will need to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers on their “JUMP” days.

    DONATIONS NEEDED FOR THE
            INDOOR RECESS CART
Rosendale's indoor recess cart is in dire need of some new games and activities to help entertain our children when winter weather requires recess to be held inside.  Any and all age appropriate games and activities are welcome as long as they are intact and not missing any pieces.
Here are some specific requests/suggestions: playing cards, checkers, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, coloring books, markers, colored pencils, Guess Who?, Operation, memory games (for all ages), Telestrations (a new game, great for 4th or 5th grade), Sorry, stencils, Rubik's Cube, Jenga, Clue Jr., Hoot Owl Hoot (a good game for kindergartners), Spot It . . .

If you have any of the above, or anything else that you have multiple versions of, or your family has grown out of, please drop them off in the front office with Mrs. Maley.

 The Winter Box Top Challenge

Collect as many Box Tops labels as you can and the classroom that collects the most will receive a party of their choosing- pizza or donuts!

Everyone can help collect:  aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and neighbors too!  It’s easy!  Just send in your trimmed BoxTops 4 Education labels in a Ziploc bag and deposit in your classroom's collection box- please make sure they aren't expired!

Rosendale's goal is $500 or 5,000 labels!

Check out the BoxTops 4 Education website for product listing and coupons. You can also enter their sweepstakes now through Jan 31, 2016 to help us win an extra 10,000 labels!
